2010 – Your Best Singing Year Ever! Here’s How:

Posted on 04. Jan, 2010 by Per Bristow in Communication, Health, Performance, Singing, Speaking

I just got back from a trip, but recorded this video for you while I was gone.  Here's my take on how we can really achieve great results this year and why New Year resolutions so often fail.  How do you like the scenery?  Glad I didn't drop the camera.  If you pay close attention you'll catch a glimpse of my wife (well, kind of).

So let's expand on this. Well, first off; here is my New Year “resolution” to you:

I will do everything I can to help you improve those very abilities that enable you to make dramatic changes in your life, so that you can experience phenomenal joy and success in 2010!

Remember that the skills I teach, which are about improving your ability to learn rapidly, also apply to rapid healing. To learn and to heal are both about being able to make changes in mind and body.  These skills are also closely related to being able to perform at your peak when it matters.

I am also incredibly excited to soon share improvements and additions to all of you who are members of The Singing Zone. 2009 has been absolutely sensational.  At last count we have had members from over 65 countries and the feedback has been phenomenal. I want to thank each and every one of you, and also congratulate you for having taking the step to grow and further your abilities. I think you’ll agree that to be able to sing and express with greater freedom is far more important than it might seem.

It has also been wonderful to receive your emails and learn how these new developed skills have affected your life beyond singing and performing.  (The previously published story about a member’s improved golf game is one nice example)

My plan for 2010 is to take the experience for all you members to yet another level.

THANK YOU!

Let’s make 2010 a breakthrough year – a year filled with tremendous life-enriching discoveries and experiences!

Thanks for your encouraging and thought-provoking message: The scenery was great too – but I think you short-changed us on your wife!
    Best wishes for 2010

    Per,
I have bought your course, Sing with Freedom, but can only work with it sporadically as I work long hours and am the only care-giver for my critically ill husband. When I ordered the course things were a little slower on the work and home front, but currently that is not the case.
Until my husband's illness became critical I played really old-time country music with him – he plays guitar and sings and I play bass guitar.
I do expect to benefit from the course, but not as much as I would if I had time to devote to it everyday.
Your message is inspiring, and hopefully I will be able in the near future to spend more time on my singing and to learning to play the upright bass, my other musical aspiration.
Thanks for this opportunity and for you optimistic and inspiring message, and best wishes for the new year.

Happy,  healthy new year to you and your family.
I don't make resolutions, I try to do my best day by day to make changes in my life.  I  know that I have to work hard to have success and I like your philosophy.
I confess that I am behind the singing lessons because I work long hours, so I don't study as I should do.
The scenery is spectacular. Thank you for sharing!
    Marie-Alice.

    Per,
I'm with you on New Year's resolutions– if you don't have a plan you don't stand a chance of succeeding! I agree with you about learning to enjoy the process of what ever you are doing.  I began playing the banjo at 52 and for the first year was frustrated that I didn't sound like Earl Scruggs after the first month!  Finally someone pointed out that if I didn't enjoy where I was on the journey I would never get any pleasure out of the instrument.  I think that could certainly apply to singing as well.  We all have some voice or music that we've heard that makes us want to express ourselves in a similar fashion but we have to realize that whomever is making that "noise" we want to imitate didn't get there in just a day but rather put in the time to make it happen.  "We all want to eat the fruit of success, but few want to plant and tend the tree" a Quote from Weldon Long, the Upside of Fear.
Thanks for you work, you are making a difference.

Can appreicate the fact you must raise your rates and understand why…. I have enjoyed what little you have said, but I cannot afford your price now or in the future. I would love to improve my voice and will take other measures to ensure that I do somehow.   I receive many compliments now on my singing ability, although I know I can do better. So thanks anyway…. SSI disability does not afford me much opportunity at age 65 as far as money goes, but I do hope some young person can take advantage of your lessons and be a better person for it… Thank you very much. I so enjoy singing and will keep it up for as long as I can.

    Hi Per.
Happy new year. I can see you are in a cold place. Wright now it is -20 degrees here in Oslo, (Norway) and lots of snow. Some places in this country there have been  -40 !! Cold, but beautiful. Thank you for your words, for the encouraging message which I liked very much. The prosess is what is fun and exciting. And following your lessons has till now been very helpfull an developing for me.
Sorry I will not be able to chat on the phone to day, but I have one question: Women sing one octave higher than men. Do you consider that there are a difference in the function system,  in what way we open the jaw for instance? Is it more width in the opening for women than for men?
Wishing all the best for 20010, the singing year!

Hi there Per Happy New Year to you and your family and thanks for the video and I hope that you all had a great time. I have bought the DVD'S and I have enjoyed them. Being a singer myself I understand that without hard work and enjoying what you do it is impossible to give a good performance. To be good you have to rehearse which you have mentioned. I was intrigued by the excersises and found that they are for resonance which I am enjoying. I also found that you explain why all the technical stuff is useless to us.I liked your voice too on the last DVD by the way have you made any CD'S?
Kind Regards Jean from the UK

Happy New Year Per, to you and your wife. Thank You for the vidio the scenery looks too good to leave behind. I am not a fan of resolutions, I feel that there is so much to do in life, that it seems a shame to waste the time we have trying to achieve something we never finish. I love the warmth that comes over in the messages sent to you by "Your Followers". Keep them coming.
    Best wishes to you all.

Wow great scenery and some well thought well spoken advice…simple yet deep at the same time..it's funny how we all want to rush to the result not enjoying the process..and what a great analogy u had with skiing and life!!
I must say I cried last year looking over New Year's resolutions from past years…as I realized that every year I'd written nearly the same thing..it forced me to ask some hard questions and earnestly seek a new way…..thx
