The Online Singing Course Is Discontinued! Why???!
Posted on 15. Mar, 2008 by Per Bristow in Communication, Health, Performance, Singing
Yes, it is true. The online singing course – The Captivating Singer – has been discontinued, and a lot of people who were planning to start the course are upset at me wondering why. Well, let me explain. And more importantly, let me explain how this is directly going to benefit you in a huge way?
It may seem like I have lost my mind since conventional wisdom says you should never mess with a winning formula. And it is true, people from all over the world – from Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, Europe (including Sweden, England, Finland, France, Israel and more) as well as people from all over the USA and Canada – have raved about the results they have gotten from the course. And this is in despite of the fact that the marketing for this course has been minimal. (Nothing beats word of mouth.)
So why on earth would I discontinue it?
For the last decades I have been pondering how to make these strategies to free the voice – strategies that have been unknown to most – available and useful for anybody. I know from my own experience how life-transforming it can be to experience a newfound sense of freedom to sing – whether you regularly sing in front of thousands of people or just want to feel good with friends. My task is to develop a system so beneficial that anyone can experience this sense of empowerment of being a great singer.
The short story is this: As happy as I am that the course has been so helpful for so many, something better, even greater is in the works. Frankly, what is soon to be launched is a voice training system so powerful, so revolutionary, that it is completely unmatched by anything you have ever seen. I know these are big words, but the words don’t come from me, they come from the results of other people – beginners to pros. Here are just a few of the many emails I’ve received recently:
"First of all, I would like to say a big thank you for your product. From lesson 1 alone I learnt so much about my voice. I come from having 3 singing teachers, multiple online products including…. (product name left out as courtesy to colleagues)… and honest to God I have never learnt as much as I have from those 50 minutes of instruction!" Daniel Yuen –
Canada
"I have been singing for the past 9 years and took voice lessons from 3 different teachers before. But nothing can compare to what Per’s 6 week on-line lessons have taught me. I always felt learning to sing is far to hard and complicated. But then, the truth now becomes that I have never felt learning to sing can be so effortless and simple. It’s truly God’s blessing to have Per. Awesome!!! Mike Lee, Worship Leader –
Malaysia
"I feel like I’ve been liberated to explore my own abilities. I’ve found that singing is very therapeutic. It releases stress and calms me down. This course was definitely a life-enhancer for me. Thanks for everything, Per" Albert Huerta
Anyway, forgive me if you were planning to hop on the course only to find it unavailable. Shortly, I will give you all the details on what is about to come and how you can benefit from being the first to know about it.

If this is not available yet, how is it that these people are commenting on it?

When will the new course be available and how much is it going to cost? The thing that prevented me from enjoying the course in the past was cost. Will this new revolutionary course be even more costly? While I am sure it’s worth whatever you decide to charge, what about us poor folk?

Yes I’m sad about this news!! I was ready to sign up for your Online Singing Course. How long is the wait before your next course, and I too wondered how people were commenting on the course already?? Do you have any CD’s left from your last class that I could buy? I was so excited to start!

Hi folks,
Yes, the quotes are from people who have already experienced the course that is now being discontinued and improved. Jeffrey, I hear you and I’m taking your concerns into consideration.

I am very curious about it since I don’t know your teachings, only for what I have read so far on your page. Can’t wait. Hopefully you will offer an alternative to your online course to those who have a poor or non-existent internet connection…
“Healing my voice ONCE AND FOR ALL”, that’s the catch phrase for me. I am at a point where I don’t even enjoy singing anymore because it’s too painful. And I realize how hard (quite impossible for me right now) it is to undo the damages that I have done. I just don’t know how NOT TO use these muscles that hurt and strain my voice.
I found this interesting research. What do you think? (excerpt below)
THE CONNECTION BETWEEN THE EAR AND VOICE
In 1953 Dr. Alfred Tomatis presented the French Academy of Science with his findings, stating that “the voice can only express what the ear can hear”. This observation seemed unlikely. But Dr. Tomatis was able to prove that the ear and the voice were part of the same neurological circulation, so that changes in one response automatically influenced the function of the other. This is something we often observe when singers have a voice problem. In many cases the voice problem derives from a small listening problem; the ear is not capable of finding out exactly when a tone should be produced. The singer is **forced to strain? “squeeze” the voice in an attempt to overcome the problem. When the listening problem is solved many singers regain their full potential.
Children having a boring and inflated voice often experience learning problems and suffer from the phenomenon of bad listening. Such a voice ndicates, for instance, reduced ability to analyse overtones. In addition there might be problems of ear dominance (laterality). By improving the listening skill and establishing right ear dominance, the voice will gradually change into a rich selection of overtones, greater accuracy, harmony, rhythm and faster response.

When are you planning to launch it? Will it still be an online course or can we buy it? I am also wondering if your old course will be available in DVD format to buy?
Thanks

I was ready to go over my husbands head and take the lessons anyways. Being as my husband sings, you think he would teach me, but he is stubborn. I have looked into taking the captivating singer before but it was a little pricey at the time. Now I decide to spend the money anyways (even if i get in trouble with the husband) and now it is not available. This is kinda sad, my anniversary is next month and I wanted to show him what progress I have made and that I made it through this program. But I am looking forward to the new program and hope it is just as good as the first one, well, even better!
