Great comments… I heard so much hoo-har about how great Davids performance of “your the voice” was that I thought it was only me that thought it was very average compared to the original…

As for mics, give me a radio mic and big stage or crowd to walk thru and im happy… confidence is all in your head.. get out of those comfort zones as quick as you can people and learn to relax… you’ll sing ten times better as well…..

I haven’t performed much so I dont know the mic stand issue. I want to say that I dont like rock music much bit I LOVED David Cook. I haven’t heard that other version but I was amazed by his voice

I never know what to do with my hands. I gravitate towards holding on to the mike and the mike stand with both hands. I feel weaker walking away from it. I guess it should be the opposite, because like George says with the mike stand both my hand would be free, but I always hold on to it with two hands. I realize this is a confidence issue though. So there…I’ve now exposed my weakness…

Interesting comments throughout. Regarding the mic stand issue, I have a similar issue simply because I hate the way I move. I play the keyboard just about 100% of the time and am generally the lead instrument in out worship team. While I hate the way I move when I’m away from the keyboard, when I’m behind it, I move quite a bit (I know, it’s weird) so I have an N’Sync mic (wireless Crown CM311a headset boom). I think if I were forced to get away from the keyboard and I didn’t have my headset mic, I’d have a mic stand, so that my hands were free. Why? Because my “venue” is the opposite of a performance that says “look at me.” My “performance” if you will, is supposed to say, “look at God.” Because of this, I want my hands free so I can raise them to God, or clap, or to simply express my emotions. I thought this might provide a little different perspective on the choice to use a mic stand or not.

That was an interesting point about the mic stand, Per. I always feel way more comfortable with the mic stand than without. I think I’m gonna go without a stand this weekend just to get out of my comfort zone… I’ll let you know what happens…

I was so dissapointed Chikezie was voted off! He’s one of the most exciting performers. Hope he does great. So when do you or don’t you use a mic stand?

I am disappointed Chikezie got voted off, but since the guys are so strong I guess he was next to go. In my opinion there’s only one girl that is even close to possibly being in the final: Brooke.

Very interesting observation regarding Michael J. I thought he rocked, but would have rocked the whole house would he have done what you suggested!
I agree with your comment about David C as well – he’ll be better off not winning. It would be fun to see him all the way to the final though!
Great blog! What did you think of Kimberly Locke? Would she make the cut this season?
